Personal Reflections
A place to include personal reflections and articles that I have found inspiring in one way or another and to share with you for what worth they may be.
- Desiderata: A poem/prose about things desired - many find it helpful to find their way in at many times a hectic and absurd world.
- Poetry: By Pablo Neruda - It was at that age poetry arrived in search of me.... Because.
- Tonight I can write the saddest lines: By Pablo Neruda - About recognition and letting go.... because we can't move forward when we are clinging to the past.
- Failing and Flying: From a counselling/mental health perspective, it isn't the event but what we tell ourselves about it that matters. I recall in elementary school the lesson about Icarus disobeying his father, flying too close to the sun, and failing. And yet Icarus did not fail... he flew... he soared!
- The Awakening - by Sonny Carroll - A bit of prose about enlightenment when substance becomes what gives life meaning rather than style. One may still value style, but without substance... is it not rather hollow?
- The Quitter - by Robert Service. Just have one more try — it’s dead easy to die, It’s the keeping-on-living that’s hard.
- Abou Beh Adhem (May his tribe increase) - A poem that illustrates how to make love of God real.
- The Calf Path: How we often will do something out of habit, without ever looking at why, and if there is a better way!
